Community Spaces

Restaurant Gardens

We here at Reap & Sow Farm have been deeply entrenched in the world of Farm to Table for more than the last decade. We’ve run and managed both the farm and the table, so we understand what many of your produce needs are. In the past we’ve set up planter boxes and raised beds for restaurants to help supply them with various crops. Some of what we can set up for you are:

  • Edible Flowers and Garnish

  • Herbs

  • Cut and Come Again Greens

  • Microgreen Set-Ups

  • Cut Flowers for Decor and Table Decoration

  • Raised Beds for Produce

  • In-Ground Beds for Produce

School and Church Gardens

We’re of the opinion that gardens in community spaces, such as schools and churches, can help to strengthen a community. From the benefits of eating good, healthy, local produce to the bonding formed among community members working in the gardens, a garden at your school or place of worship can add to your community in countless ways. We can provide the following for your school or church:

  • Raised Beds

  • In-Ground Growing (including no-till gardens)

  • Perennial Plantings - Fruits, Trees, and More

  • Greenhouses and High Tunnels

  • Irrigation Systems

  • Planting and Maintenance

  • Spring and Fall Clean-up and Servicing - We’ll get your garden up and running in the spring and we’ll put it to bed in the fall

Consultation and Design

Consultation is the first step of any garden project. We will come to your property to listen to what you are looking for, to survey the land, and to present some initial design options.

After collecting the relevant information we’ll put together a design proposal for your approval that takes into account your garden desires, budget, and timeframe.

The cost of a consultation starts at $100 for anyone in Chittenden and Addison Counties. A consultation to anyone outside of Chittenden and Addison Counties, but within a 75 minute drive from our home base in Monkton is $150. Any consultation outside of a 75 minute drive from Monkton is $200.

Installation

Once you’ve approved the design, we’ll schedule a time for installation! The first step will be to prepare the site - leveling any areas that need to be flattened, remove sod if need be, or whatever else needs to be done. We’ll then install your new infrastructure - whether that be raised beds, a new greenhouse, a trellising system, or whatever else we’ve dreamed up together in the design process!

Planting and Maintenence

Now that we’ve built the garden of your dreams, there’s only one step left to bring it to fruition - it needs plants! We’ll get you set up with the crops you want growing in your backyard. After growing for countless restaurants and chefs, while also working in fine dining kitchens, we have amassed a knowledge of our favorite varieties. For our customers who are within 75 miles of our home base in Monkton, Vermont we can provide monthly garden maintenance. Some of the maintenance we can offer includes:

  • Garden Weeding and Mulching

  • Fertility Management - fertilizing and other soil amendments to ensure the healthiest plants possible

  • Pest Management

  • Plant Management - pruning, renovation, and rehabilitation

  • Winter Pruning of Fruit Trees
